Since 2005, CHI Memorial’s mobile health coaches have brought breast cancer screenings to women who may have trouble accessing these services. These 40-foot coaches travel across 28 counties in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama, offering high-quality screenings.

  • Each coach is equipped with two dressing rooms, a waiting area and a mammography room with the same advanced digital technology as our MaryEllen Locher Breast Center locations

  • The mobile coaches are on the road 4-6 days a week, making 1-2 stops daily.

  • For comfort, certified female mammography technologists staff each coach, and softer mammograms are available upon request.

  • With numerous convenient dates and locations, you can join us at an upcoming screening near you. Alternatively, you can call (423) 495-6744 to arrange for the mobile health coach to visit your church, workplace or community organization, making it even easier for women, especially those on late shifts, to prioritize your health.

    No insurance? No problem.

Screening mammograms are covered for eligible women year-round. Financial assistance is available for those who are insured, underinsured or unable to afford a copay or deductible.

Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are always welcome. Call (423) 495-4040 to schedule your screening mammogram. To streamline the registration process, patient information sheets are available for download. Completing these forms in advance and bringing them to your appointment will help save time.

CHI Memorial’s Breathe. Easy. mobile lung CT coach brings low-dose CT lung screenings directly to the community, providing access to individuals who may not otherwise have access to this lifesaving scan.

The primary purpose of lung screening is to detect nodules, masses, or early-stage lung cancer. Low-dose CT scans are the most effective method for lung cancer detection and are particularly beneficial for individuals who currently smoke or have a history of smoking.

In addition to assessing the lungs, our screenings capture an image of the heart, allowing us to calculate a cardiac calcium score—a valuable tool for understanding the risk of heart disease or heart attack. These scans also typically include much of the chest cavity, often uncovering incidental findings such as gallstones or thyroid masses.

Early detection of lung cancer greatly improves survival rates. Watch Dr. Rob Headrick discuss mobile low-dose CT lung screenings and how they make a lifesaving difference in our communities.

Lung screening criteria

  • Age 50-80 years old (Medicare patients 50-77 years old)

  • Current cigarette smoker or have quit within the past 15 years

  • Have > 20 pack year history (1 pack per day for 20 years, 2 packs per day for 10 years, etc.)

  • Asymptomatic (no signs or symptoms of lung cancer)

  • Patient has not had a chest CT in the last 12 months

Insurance and grants

Most insurance plans cover the cost of lung CT screening if you meet the criteria. If you don’t have insurance and meet the criteria, we offer grants to cover the cost of screening.

Self-pay

If you don’t meet the criteria to be screened and you are 40 years of age or older, we offer a $150 self-pay option, a significant savings for lung CT screening.
