CommonSpirit Health Mourns the Passing of Bernard J. Tyson, Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente

Chicago, Ill.—November 10, 2019- CommonSpirit Health joins the Kaiser Permanente community in mourning the loss of Bernard Tyson, their Chairman and CEO. Devoting his life to the advancement of healthy communities across the nation, Tyson was a courageous voice who tirelessly worked to protect the health care of millions of Americans.

“Today we have lost one of the country’s greatest and most talented leaders, executives, and a deeply caring man,” said Lloyd H. Dean, CEO of CommonSpirit Health. “He dedicated his life to advocating for quality health care for all and his impact and memory will live on in all of us.”

“I will always be appreciative of Bernard’s many contributions to our industry,” said Kevin E. Lofton, CEO of CommonSpirit Health. “We will miss his leadership and humanity.”

A true leader in the health care industry, Bernard Tyson was a powerful and impactful voice who tirelessly advocated for affordable health care for all. CommonSpirit extends its deepest sympathies and prayers to Bernard Tyson’s family, friends, and the Kaiser Permanente communities.
