CommonSpirit Health Surpasses One Million Virtual Visits

Virtual care has been an important way to meet the needs of our communities during COVID-19. Since March, CommonSpirit Health Physician Enterprise physicians and Advanced Practice Providers have conducted more than one million virtual visits, opening up more access points and connectivity in the middle of a pandemic and helping to ensure our patients safely receive the care they need during this unprecedented time.

“We’ve found that virtual care has been a great way to help people stay connected with their provider, whether it’s managing a chronic condition like diabetes and hypertension, or addressing issues like mental health and wellbeing,” said Tom McGinn, MD, MPH, Executive Vice President, Physician Enterprise, CommonSpirit Health. “It’s helping us safely see patients, meet demand for care, and reduce the transmission of the COVID-19 virus.”

After rapidly scaling capabilities in March, work continues as the ministry looks at the important role virtual care will play in the future across the care continuum. In appropriate settings, virtual care is another important tool for providers to see patients.

“We’re focused on building scalable platforms that enhance clinical care for both our patients and our providers,” said Suja Chandrasekaran, Chief Information and Digital Officer, CommonSpirit Health. “Virtual care technology enables us to connect with our patients in new and transformative ways and we know it will be instrumental in how we meet consumers where and how they want to be seen today and in the future.”
