Mitch’s accountabilities include legal services (including mergers and acquisitions), enterprise risk management, corporate governance matters and sponsorship.

As Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Mitch is responsible for all legal services (including mergers and acquisitions), enterprise risk management, internal audit, corporate governance matters and sponsorship.  Since joining the ministry in 1992, Mitch has leveraged his legal expertise and institutional knowledge to support the organization’s mission of improving the health of the people it serves. As Chief Legal Officer, he spearheads critical legal strategies to ensure compliance, mitigate risks and uphold ethical standards. With a deep understanding of health care regulations, Mitch navigates complex legal landscapes, safeguarding the ministry’s integrity while fostering innovation in patient care. Before CommonSpirit Health, Mitch served as the general counsel for Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He has spoken on various legal and risk management topics of concern to lawyers, physicians, nurses, risk managers and other health care professionals. Mitch taught at the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University and served as a guest lecturer at Capital University Law School. He received his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School. Mitch continues to support community benefit by serving on the board of directors of several nonprofit health care systems.
