Humankindness at Work: JC Jamandre - Transforming Scans into Moments of Humanity

In the often sterile and anxiety-inducing world of medical imaging, JC Jamandre, a seasoned Multimodality Technologist at St. Luke's Health-Springwoods Village Hospital, stands as a beacon of genuine human connection. 

His role, far from being just about operating complex machinery, is an art form in empathy, transforming potentially daunting diagnostic procedures into moments of comfort and hope for his patients.

JC’s daily routine revolves around the precise operation of MRI, X-ray and CT machines, a skill set he humorously acknowledges aligns with his unexpected journey from a computer science major to healthcare. This innate understanding of the technology allows him to navigate the intricate science, where each patient presents a unique challenge. 

JC uses his freedom and precision to obtain the exact images needed, even admitting to knowing his GE machine like the back of his hand. He estimates seeing about 12 patients a day, each allocated a generous hour-long slot – a testament to Springwoods Village’s patient-centric values - approaching each study with slow, deliberate movements and care.

Having been part of the original team that opened Springwoods Village Hospital seven years ago, JC’s dedication is evident. What truly sets JC apart is his unwavering commitment to his patients' emotional well-being. He recognizes the high-anxiety levels associated with MRI - noting his frequent encounters with individuals grappling with life-changing news. He wants to give patients hope when they’re down. JC offers prayers for his patients and reminds them that we may be suffering at the moment, but we have hope with Jesus. We are never alone during these tough times, because He is always with us and His peace is everlasting.

Outside of his demanding yet rewarding work, JC is a devoted dad - stating his kids are his life. He is most proud of being a husband and parent to his three-year-old and eight-month-old sons. 

He lives with the mantra of “Time is limited; start living.” He shares this philosophy with patients, reminding them that each day's a gift. His radiant smile lights up the room and creates a sense of positivity with everyone he meets.
