All his life, Jim has been active. Whether it’s running or biking or golf, Jim has kept his body moving. But when he teed off at a local golf championship, Jim noticed a pain in his ankle that kept getting worse, and by the sixth hole, he was hurting too much to continue. Jim’s doctor told him he almost certainly needed a surgical procedure that would knock him out of any athletics for several months.
So Jim checked with a physical therapist at CHI St. Vincent, where he learned he could avoid surgery with a strict, intense therapy regiment. And so Jim got started, three times a week with a physical therapist and every day on his own, working on strength and flexibility exercises to get his ankle back to playing shape. Jim sat down for an episode of the A View from the Bedside podcast to tell his story and talk about how important it is to stick with your physical therapy plan.
