Daniel Flaming, MD

  • Dr. Flaming practiced as a family doctor for 21 years until transitioning to obesity medicine full-time in 2023. During medical school and residency, he received training in many different areas of medicine, but essentially no training in treating obesity. Ten years into his career as a family doctor, Dr. Flaming was struggling with his own weight and was frustrated by his inability to help his patients with their weight struggles. He started attending obesity medicine conferences, working on his own weight, and reading everything he could on the subject. Fascinated by this subject that was neglected in his training, Dr. Flaming continued his studies and was board-certified in obesity medicine in 2015. He applied what he learned to his role as a family doctor and treating patients with obesity became his favorite area of his practice. In 2023, he decided to move to Ventura and start Best Weight Medical, an obesity medicine practice, to allow him to help more patients struggling with their weight. Dr. Flaming takes a comprehensive approach to treating obesity counseling patients on nutrition, physical activity, and behavior change while also a variety of weight-loss medications including Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) and Semaglutide (Wegovy).
