Henry Yu, MD

Dr. Henry Yu, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in total joint replacement, complex hip and knee revision surgery, and orthopaedic trauma, including fracture care, at CommonSpirit Summit Orthopedics. He focuses on treating patients with hip and knee conditions that require replacement or reconstruction, including those caused by osteoarthritis and post-traumatic arthritis. Before becoming an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Yu had a long and diverse history in Summit County. He grew up in Denver and moved to Breckenridge in 2000 after graduating from the University of Colorado. A true mountain-town local, he worked as a ski instructor and ski patroller in the winter and an EMT instructor in the summer. His early experiences with mountain trauma introduced him to the field of orthopedic surgery and ultimately led him to pursue medicine. He attended medical school at Loyola University Chicago, completed orthopedic residency training at the University of Colorado, and pursued a fellowship in hip and knee replacement at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to offering direct anterior hip replacements, minimally invasive robot-assisted knee replacements, and partial knee replacements, Dr. Yu also performs joint replacement and complex revision procedures — particularly for younger, active patients who require durable solutions that support long-term mobility and lifestyle goals.
