Joel Steve Kneitz, MD

Dr. Kneitz is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician specializing in comprehensive patient care, medical leadership, and operational excellence. With extensive experience in both clinical practice and medical directorship, Dr. Kneitz has a strong focus on optimizing healthcare delivery, managing complex healthcare systems, and fostering clinician development. His clinical interests include weight management and male wellness, alongside his broad expertise in internal medicine. Dr. Kneitz provides care in diverse settings, including large medical management organizations and private practices. Dr. Kneitz began practicing medicine in 1996 and joined WellMed Medical Management in December 2021 before transitioning to his current role. His areas of focus include population health management, clinician oversight and development, and the financial and operational aspects of large-scale healthcare systems. He is particularly adept at managing fee-for-service and Medicare Advantage plans, with a demonstrated ability to improve quality outcomes and manage patient populations across various insurance structures. Beyond his clinical and administrative expertise, Dr. Kneitz has held significant leadership roles, including Chairman of the Board of Directors – Outpatient Medical Group at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Group and Area Medical Director for Central and South Houston for the same organization.
