Katelyn Schmitt, MD

Care philosophy: As a pediatrician, I believe in building lasting partnerships with families to support the health and well-being of every child. I strive to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that respects each family's unique background, values, and goals. I view parents and caregivers as essential members of the care team and work collaboratively to empower them with the information and tools they need to make informed decisions. Above all, I aim to be an advocate for every child I care for, ensuring they have the opportunity to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential. Why I became a medical provider: I became a doctor because I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of science, service, and human connection. Watching a loved one navigate a serious childhood illness showed me early on how much of a difference a compassionate physician can make—not just through treatment, but through presence and support. During training, I was especially moved by how resilient children are, and how much potential we have to shape lifelong health from the very beginning. Pediatrics allows me to combine evidence-based care with advocacy, empathy, and education—and that’s exactly the kind of doctor I aspired to be when I started this journey.
