Maya El Ghouayel, MD

Dr. Maya El Ghouayel is a general surgeon at CommonSpirit General & Breast Surgery Salt Lake. She aims to create a community with her patients and staff, believing in clear communication, accountability, and fostering mutual trust with patients. Dr. El Ghouayel earned her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of California - Berkeley, and her Master of Health Science from Johns Hopkins University. She received her MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She completed her General Surgery Residency at the University of Arizona - Tucson, followed by a Minimally Invasive and Complex GI Surgery Fellowship at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. Outside of her practice, Dr. El Ghouayel enjoys hiking, seeing wildlife, yoga, learning languages, and scuba diving.
