Micah James Roberts, DO

Dr. Roberts is a board-certified Cardiac Electrophysiologist, as well as in Cardiovascular Diseases, Adult Echocardiography, and Internal Medicine. He specializes in the management of heart rhythm disorders. Dr. Roberts is trained to perform complex ablations for arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation (Afib), supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), and ventricular tachycardia (VT). He also implants cardiac electronic devices to manage patients with conduction system disease or who are at risk for sudden cardiac arrest. Cardiac devices that he implants and manages include: traditional pacemakers, leadless pacemakers, implantable cardiac defibrillators, subcutaneous defibrillators, and biventricular devices.Dr. Roberts is a Bakersfield native, a CSUB graduate, and a decorated combat veteran. During his active duty time with the US Army he served as an Internal Medicine provider caring for active duty service members, veterans, and their families. He was also deployed in the role of Battalion Surgeon to an austere outpost in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with the 82nd Airborne Division.Dr. Roberts is a firm believer in a lifestyle as medicine approach and often recommends regular exercise, heart healthy diets, and weight loss to his arrhythmia patients. Following his military service, he pursued additional training in Cardiology at the UCSF-Fresno Medical Education program. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Electrophysiology fellowship program where he learned from experts in his field (including several of the ACC/AHA guideline committee authors for SVT, VT, and Afib). After being away from Bakersfield for 16 years, he is excited to return home to care for the people (and hearts) of the Central Valley.
