Saint Joseph Health – Cancer Care Center in Lexington Welcomes Experienced Oncology Nurse

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 4, 2025) – Saint Joseph Health – Cancer Care Center in Lexington has added Kelly Napier, APRN, OCN, to its oncology team. Napier has more than 11 years of nursing experience, with the majority of her career focused on oncology. 

“I never imagined I would pursue oncology, but that’s where God led me,” said Napier. “I really admire the patients – they’re so inspiring. They’ve been dealt the hardest cards that can be dealt, but they’re the most thankful and upbeat patients. They help me just as much as I help them.”

For Napier, she knows firsthand what it is like to watch a loved one battle cancer, and she takes that experience with her when treating patients.

“My heart is in oncology,” she said. “My grandfather died of metastatic prostate cancer before I was born, and I’ve had breast cancer in my family, so I know they’re going through a hard time, and I try to go above and beyond to ensure they have everything they need. I treat all my patients as I would my family members, ensuring they receive the best care possible. I enjoy what I do. It can be hard, but it’s rewarding.”

Napier earned her associate degree in nursing from Midway College and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ohio University. She is a registered nurse and an oncology certified nurse. She received her master’s in nursing from Eastern Kentucky University and is certified as an APRN by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. 

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, reading, watching television and practicing pilates.
