LEXINGTON, Ky. (August 11, 2025) – Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has appointed Matthew Grimshaw, MBA, president of Saint Joseph Health, to the Kentucky State University (KSU) Board of Regents. Grimshaw will serve the remainder of a term that extends through June 30, 2030.
Saint Joseph Health has worked with KSU on several projects in recent years, including a $2.5 million nursing scholarship and workforce development initiative launched in partnership with the KSU School of Nursing in 2022. Over the past two years, Saint Joseph has partnered with KSU and Morehouse College of Medicine, through the More in Common Alliance, for a STEM and Health Careers Summer Academy for middle school, high school and undergraduate college students. These programs have helped create new educational and career pathways for students in underserved communities across Kentucky, particularly in health care and STEM fields.
“I feel deeply humbled and honored to be appointed by Governor Beshear to serve as a member of the Kentucky State University Board of Regents,” said Grimshaw. “As a health care ministry, Saint Joseph Health and CommonSpirit are excited to partner with KSU to build the very best workforce of tomorrow. I firmly believe Dr. Akakpo and his administration are moving the institution forward on a vital journey, and I look forward to supporting that work in any way possible.”
