LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 23, 2025) – The Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation, on behalf of the Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East and Saint Joseph Jessamine, has received a $70,000 grant from WHAS Crusade for Children to enhance pediatric care at two of its local facilities – the Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East and Saint Joseph Jessamine. The funding will be used to purchase critical medical equipment that strengthens the hospitals’ ability to provide timely, lifesaving care to the youngest and most vulnerable patients.

At Saint Joseph Jessamine, nearly 25% of emergency department visits involve patients under the age of 18. To meet the needs of these young patients, the grant will fund the purchase of an infant warmer – essential for stabilizing newborns and infants requiring immediate medical attention.

At the Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East, where nearly 1,400 births took place last year, the grant will support the purchase of an ultrasound machine for the Birth Center. This tool plays a critical role in evaluating high-risk pregnancies and laboring mothers, allowing clinicians to make fast, informed decisions and provide potentially life-saving diagnoses during delivery.

These additions are vital for improving the diagnosis, treatment and care of both full-term and at-risk infants.

“We are so grateful for the continued support of WHAS Crusade for Children,” said Jennifer Nolan, Ed.D., president of Saint Joseph East. “This funding allows us to care for our patients with the right tools, at the right time – especially when seconds matter the most for newborns and children.”

This grant represents a continued partnership between the two organizations to improve health outcomes for pediatric patients and provide critical support to local families.

“We are proud to stand alongside the Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East and Saint Joseph Jessamine in their mission to care for the most vulnerable patients,” said Dawn Lee, President, and CEO of the WHAS Crusade for Children. “This grant will help to ensure that families have access to the high-quality, personalized care that their children deserve.”
