LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 17, 2025) – Saint Joseph Medical Group - Orthopedics welcomes Wesley Lykins, DMSc, PA-C, to its team. Lykins, who grew up in Mount Sterling, specializes in treating various hand issues and also has a background in orthopedics. As the first medical care professional in his family, he is proud to help his community.
“I’ve always been interested in making a difference, trying to do something good to help people,” said Lykins. “Whether through medicine or anything else I do, but I felt medicine was a good avenue I could help in.”
Lykins has also worked in emergency medicine. He brings extensive knowledge and experience in treating patients suffering from hand issues or nerve and tendon injuries, including carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, trigger finger and more. He believes in providing attentive and compassionate care, ensuring every patient feels heard and understood.
“Being from eastern Kentucky myself, I understand the needs of my community,” Lykins said. “I take the time to listen, communicate effectively and understand what brings each patient to us. My goal is to provide high-quality care in a way that makes patients feel heard and understood.”
Lykins earned his Doctor of Medical Science degree from the University of Lynchburg in Virginia, and his Master of Science in physician assistant studies from the University of Kentucky. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Morehead State University. Lykins is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Lykins and his wife, Allison, a former nurse and current teacher, have two daughters. He enjoys golfing and is an assistant coach to his daughter’s golf team. He is also active in his church, serving as an elder and playing in the band
