Saint Joseph Medical Group in Lexington Welcomes Hand Surgeon

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 12, 2025) –  Saint Joseph Medical Group – Orthopedics in Lexington welcomes Margaret Napolitano, MD, a highly skilled hand surgeon with more than 30 years of specialized experience. Inspired early in life following her father’s traumatic hand injury, Dr. Napolitano developed a deep commitment to compassionate, timely and personalized care and brings that lifelong passion to patients across the region.  

She centers her  patient care philosophy around strong communication with her patients and providing timely care. “I respect my patients’ time and see them as promptly as possible. I see many types of injuries, but no injury is ever the same. Ensuring the patient understands their conditions and the treatment options is a priority.”

Dr. Napolitano earned her Bachelor of Science from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, and her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. She completed a residency in general surgery in St. Louis, Missouri, and a fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery in Gainesville before moving to Kentucky for her fellowship in hand and microsurgery in 2000. Since then, she has found her home in Lexington and has joined Saint Joseph Medical Group - Orthopedics.

Now working at Saint Joseph Health, Dr. Napolitano is passionate about expanding access to advanced surgical care for patients in the region. “Hand injuries are so common, and having someone immediately available can make all the difference. That’s what we’re here to provide.”

Aside from serving her patients, Dr. Napolitano enjoys connecting with nature, from bird-watching to yardwork. She is also an avid animal lover.
