Sleep Problems in Older Adults

How do sleep patterns change as you get older?

Sleep patterns naturally change as you get older. Older adults may sleep fewer hours and take longer to fall asleep. They sleep less deeply and wake up more often during the night. But routine poor-quality sleep can lead to ongoing (chronic) sleep problems. This may increase the risk of serious health problems.
