Richard Alford, MD

Dr. Richard Alford is board certified in general surgery with continuing advanced training in laparoscopic bariatric surgery. He completed medical school at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He is an experienced bariatric surgeon who performs laparoscopic gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding and vertical sleeve gastrectomy as well as revisions. Dr. Alford is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery and a Member of the American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery with the Texas A&M University Health Science Center, and has previously served as Chief of Medical Staff at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Dr. Alford has been happily married to his lovely wife Tracy since 1981, and together they have three children. In his spare time, Dr. Alford enjoys running marathons, recreational sports and experiencing nature with his family.
