St. Luke’s Health Academic and Faculty Affairs

St. Luke’s Health academic programs are designed to advance medical education and professional development, fostering a culture of lifelong learning and innovation.

Excellence in education, research and faculty

St. Luke’s Health provides a dynamic clinical environment for students and health care professionals, fostering connections, collaboration and a shared commitment to excellence in health care education. Our nurses, pharmacy technicians and medical staff all play a vital role in these specialty programs, ensuring a well-rounded and enriching learning experience.

Designed to prepare the next generation of pharmacy leaders, our residency and fellowship programs offer advanced training in specialties such as cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases and pharmacy administration. Residents benefit from robust clinical experiences, leadership development, teaching opportunities and longitudinal projects. Programs include PGY1 and PGY2 tracks, a dual PGY1/PGY2 in Health-System Pharmacy Administration and an Infectious Disease Fellowship. Participants gain hands-on experience through core and elective rotations, on-call responsibilities and professional development, with a certificate in academia available through the University of Houston.

St. Luke's Health has joined the CommonSpirit Health Administrative Fellowship program, streamlining the recruitment process. The CommonSpirit Health Administrative Fellowship is a national 18-month system-wide fellowship offered in our various operational regions and functions across the organization. Fellows complete several rotations over the course of a year and a half to gain exposure and develop valuable skill sets in their areas of concentration.

St. Luke’s Health participates in the CommonSpirit Health National Nurse Residency Program (NNRP) and welcomes graduate nurses from all over the country three times a year (February, July and October). We understand that your first year as a nurse is one of the biggest challenges you will face in your career. The NNRP is designed to offer support to new nurses during transition from the student role to the licensed Registered Nurse role.

The NNRP is a 12 month program with specialty tracks in the following clinical areas:

  • Medical-surgical-telemetry

  • Progressive care

  • Critical care

  • Emergency department

  • Perioperative services

You will be paired with an outstanding and formally trained preceptor to guide you through the learning process. Supportive mentors will also be available.

Health care is an ever-evolving field and as a leading care provider, St. Luke’s Health is committed to remaining at the forefront of medicine. Our continuing education programs for physicians, nurses and allied health professionals are intended to meet the professional development needs of primary care practitioners.

St. Luke’s Health offers physicians AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM credits through comprehensive and innovative continuing medical education activities that are designed to increase medical knowledge and skills and ultimately change practice behavior, methods or procedures in cardiovascular medicine and other medical specialties.
