Maintaining heart health is achievable through integrating regular movement, balanced nutrition and stress management into daily life.
Heart health involves embracing a lifestyle that supports overall well-being. By integrating consistent habits into daily routines — such as regular movement, balanced nutrition and finding joy — individuals can improve their heart health. Establishing heart-focused routines can contribute to lasting health.
“There are many ways to take care of your heart, but the key to lifelong heart health is finding what works best for you. For me, taking care of my heart looks like integrating consistent habits into a busy lifestyle — from how I move and what I eat, to actively managing stress and ensuring I get my own regular checkups,” said Cristina Cabral-Pauig, MD.
“My biggest obstacle to personal health is time, so keeping a regular schedule of exercise at the start of my day is helpful. It’s important to remember that life is unpredictable and not get discouraged if you miss a day in your routine. Give yourself a break, then get back to it with renewed commitment,” said S. Michelle Morton, MD.
“For me, heart health starts with consistency: regular movement, balanced nutrition, quality sleep and staying connected to what brings joy and calm,” said Syed Mustafa, MD.
“Exercise is important and there is no such thing as too little. Things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking farther in the lot to get an extra few steps in, or simply taking a walk in the park can make a significant impact on your heart health. Get moving!” said Ibrahim Rashid, MD.
