How is localized prostate cancer treated?

Treatment for localized prostate cancer is based on many things, including the risk that the cancer will grow. Surgery to remove the prostate and radiation therapy are the main treatments. Hormone therapy may also be used. For some localized cancers, active surveillance may be an option.
