Alexander Van Nguyen, MD

Alexander Nguyen, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in general orthopedics and sports medicine in the Joseph Barnhart Department of Orthopedic Surgery. A Houston native, he graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Texas at Austin as a University of Texas Distinguished Scholar with University Honors. He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at UT Health San Antonio. He then completed fellowship training in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at Lenox Hill Orthopedic Sports in New York City, where he contributed to the care of the New York Jets, New York Islanders, Manhattanville College, and multiple high school athletic programs. 

Dr Nguyen believes in a collaborative and individualized approach when providing orthopedic care, to help his patients achieve their specific goals, and return to their sports, activities, and lifestyle. 

Outside of clinical practice, he is an avid marathon runner, who also enjoys hiking, cycling, outdoor activities, and playing piano.
