Anthony Brandon Costales, MD

Dr. Anthony B. Costales is an board-eligible gynecologic oncologist who specializes in medical and surgical care to women with gynecologic cancers. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine. 

Dr. Costales performs minimally invasive surgery, both robotic and laparoscopic surgery, for appropriate patients with uterine and early-stage ovarian cancers. His clinical interests also include: Sentinel lymph node mapping for gynecologic cancers; treatment of ovarian, vaginal, vulvar, cervical, and uterine cancers and pre-invasive disease; Management of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndromes; fertility-sparing treatment of gynecologic cancers; and complex gynecologic surgery. 

His research interests include: surgical clinical trials to optimize outcomes in gynecologic cancer patients; the advancement of minimally invasive surgery in gynecologic oncology; and the use of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in advanced and recurrent ovarian cancers. 

Dr. Costales received his medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston McGovern Medical School where he also completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology followed by a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Costales is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Costales was named one of the Texas Super Doctors Rising Stars in 2020 and 2021.
