Barry R. Fleischer, DO

Dr. Barry Fleischer is a highly accomplished and experienced neurologist and sleep medicine physician currently serving patients in Santa Maria. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Physiology with High Honors from the University of California at Davis, before going on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan. Dr. Fleischer completed his internship and neurology residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington, and became board certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2003. His medical career is distinguished by an impressive record of military service, having been commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve in 1993 and later commissioned as a Captain upon completing medical school. He was subsequently promoted to the rank of Major in 2003 while serving at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, where he served as a Staff Neurologist and Sleep Medicine Physician and also served as a Headache Education Class Instructor. Following his distinguished military career, Dr. Fleischer continued to serve patients in various staff neurologist and sleep medicine roles at leading medical centers in Utah, including Snow Canyon Clinic, Dixie Regional Medical Center, and McKay-Dee Hospital, before joining Dignity Health in 2015. With decades of experience spanning military medicine, neurology, and sleep medicine, Dr. Fleischer brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and dedication to his patients on the Central Coast.
