Bernardo de la Guardia, MD

Dr. de la Guardia is a board-certified, fellowship-trained cardiologist and interventional cardiologist. He specializes in various aspects of general cardiology, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, and stress testing with radio-isotopes. His invasive skills include coronary and peripheral diagnostic angiography, catheter-based interventions like angioplasties and stents, and pacemaker implantations. Dr. de la Guardia provides compassionate and comprehensive care to patients, ensuring dignity and respect at every interaction.

After earning his Medical Degree from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Queretaro, Mexico, Dr. de la Guardia further refined his expertise through rigorous training in the United States. He dedicated a year to research at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, followed by Internal Medicine Residency training at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He then served an additional year as Chief Medical Resident, highlighting his commitment to patient care and leadership.

Dr. de la Guardia continued his cardiology training at the University of Texas-Medical School at Houston/Hermann Hospital, completing three years of Cardiovascular Medicine and a dedicated year in Interventional Cardiology. He holds certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology and is recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. His professional appointments have included Medical Director for the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Medical Director for Cardiovascular Services at Memorial-Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas, where he also served as Chairman for the Cardiology Department.
