Dr. Charles Vega received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine after obtaining his undergraduate degree in bioengineering at Rice University. He later completed an internship and orthopedic residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. While at Texas Tech University, he served on the Orthopedic Resident Selection Committee. After his residency, Dr. Vega completed a sports medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Vega previously served as an assistant to the team physicians of the Texans, Rockets, Dynamo, and Astros as well as collegiate, high school, and recreational athletes. Dr. Vega is active in the research of knee and hip biomechanics, and his research on ACL and meniscal injuries was published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine. In 2007, his research team achieved The Frank Stinchfield Award from The Hip Society for work on the biomechanics of the hip labrum and the stability of the hip.
Dr. Vega offers personalized, comprehensive treatment plans for each patient. In his free time, Dr. Vega volunteers as the team physician for the Brazosport High School football team.
