Darryl Peterson, MD

Dr. Darryl Peterson is a deeply compassionate Hand Surgeon whose commitment to equitable patient care was first sparked in childhood. Serving at CHI St. Joseph Health, Dr. Peterson embodies our ministry's mission and values, centering his practice on the understanding that every patient deserves exemplary care, regardless of their financial circumstances. He provides a comprehensive range of services, addressing hand injuries, deformities, and infections, working seamlessly with experts and therapists across our clinical sites in College Station.

Inspired by an early life experience of neighbors caring for one another in rural Hammond, Louisiana, Dr. Peterson's approach to medicine is holistic and deeply personal. He recognizes the profound connection between hand conditions and a person's overall well-being, including neurological impact. This philosophy drives his individualized care, ensuring that he not only treats the physical injury but also supports patients through the life-altering effects their conditions may present. He makes known the healing presence of God through this compassionate and thorough commitment to those he serves.

Dr. Peterson's dedication to his specialty is grounded in a robust academic and military background. He earned his Doctorate in Medicine from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, following a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the esteemed United States Military Academy at West Point. His advanced training includes a specialized Hand Fellowship completed at the Christine Kleinert Institute in Louisville, Kentucky, solidifying his expertise in this intricate field.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Peterson finds joy in pursuits that foster precision and engagement. In his spare time, he is an enthusiastic photographer, cyclist, and runner. He also enjoys playing tennis with his wife, Lydia, embracing activities that blend focus, activity, and connection. These personal interests reflect the same dedication and careful attention he brings to his patients, strengthening his commitment to our ministry and the communities we serve.
