E. Ramsay Camp, MD, FACS

E. Ramsay Camp, M.D., FACS, is Professor and Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and Executive Surgical Director of the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dr. Camp specializes in the surgical treatment of complex gastrointestinal tumors, including pancreatic, pancreaticobiliary, gastric, small bowel, and neuroendocrine malignancies. His clinical expertise also encompasses sarcoma, melanoma, minimally invasive surgery, and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC).

He earned a B.A. in Chemistry from Davidson College and his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed general surgery residency at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida, followed by a surgical oncology fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Before joining Baylor as Chief of Surgical Oncology, Dr. Camp spent 12 years on the faculty of the Medical University of South Carolina. He leads an active, externally funded research laboratory focused on the mechanisms of chemotherapy and radiation resistance in pancreatic and colorectal cancers. His research is supported by an NIH R01 and was previously supported by a VA Merit Award.

Dr. Camp is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Surgical Association, Southern Surgical Association, Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research, National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, Southwest Oncology Group, and American College of Surgeons Oncology Group.
