I has obtained a masters degree in public health during his medical school from his interest in global health. Dr. Cho has completed general surgery residency at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic and minimally invasive surgery fellowship at University of California San Diego Health. He was interested in minimally invasive and robotic surgery during his training, and so was one of the few residents who obtained Da Vinci Robotic Certificate of Training Equivalency.
His main specialty includes minimally invasive approach to hernia repairs including inguinal, ventral and hiatal hernia. He will perform both open and laparoscopic , which includes robotic, hernia repairs. He also specializes in foregut surgery which includes hiatal and paraesophageal hernia repair and anti-reflux surgery.
Dr. Cho is a Korean-American, born in US and spent early part of his life in South Korea. He is very familiar and close to Korean culture.
