Erik Mahlstedt, PA-C

Erik Mahlstedt is a nationally certified physician assistant dedicated to bringing humankindness to the field of orthopedics. He practices general orthopedics with a focus on the conservative management of arthritis, fractures, and neck and back pain at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Group. His approach centers on providing compassionate, patient-centered care that emphasizes comfort and healing, aligning seamlessly with CommonSpirit Health's mission to make God's healing presence known in our world.

Having grown up in the vibrant Houston area, Erik returned to his roots to serve his community after completing his education. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of St. Francis in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Upon his return to Houston, he commenced his career as a physician assistant, specializing in orthopedics—a path driven by his desire to improve the health of those he serves.

Erik is a valued fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery, actively engaged in advancing the quality of care within his specialty. His commitment extends beyond clinical practice to advocating for social justice within healthcare by continuously seeking to improve patient outcomes and access to care. He finds deep fulfillment in connecting with patients and empowering them on their journey to recovery.

Beyond his professional life, Erik cherishes spending quality time with his three children and his devoted wife. An avid road cyclist, he participates in the annual BP MS 150, demonstrating his dedication to community well-being and personal challenges. He also enjoys a variety of outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and biking, which reflect his holistic approach to health and a balanced life.
