Eugene Choi, MD

I am a board-certified surgical oncologist specializing in the management of complex gastrointestinal cancer including gastric, colon cancers, sarcoma, including gastrointestinal tumors (GIST), skin cancer including melanoma and Merkel cell carcinoma and peritoneal surface malignancies (pseudomyxoma peritonei, peritoneal mesothelioma).

As a member of a multidisciplinary cancer care team, I work closely with other skilled specialists from medical and radiation oncology to offer the most complete care possible. My research interests include the signaling mechanisms of colorectal and pancreatic cancer metastasis, and development of novel drug therapies for metastatic peritoneal disease.

I am a graduate of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed my general surgery residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where I also served as administrative chief resident. I also completed a surgical oncology research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and a surgical oncology clinical fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Most recently, I held a faculty appointment at the University of Chicago in the section of general surgery and surgical oncology.
