A certified family nurse practitioner, Whalen also is a certified wound, ostomy and continence nurse; as well as a certified foot care nurse. Her other interests include gastrointestinal issues and dermatology. She has been a caregiver since 2013 and sees patients ages 1 and older at Saint Joseph Medical Group – Express Care.
Whalen has a holistic approach to patient care, expressing humankindness by treating patients with care and respect, as she would want her own loved ones treated.
She did not have to look far for inspiration to become a nurse. “My grandmother, great aunts, mother and aunts are all nurses,” she said.
“I always wanted to be a nurse.” Whalen chose her specialty because it enables her to help people on their health journey and see the improvements.
She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing, received specialty training from Emory University in Atlanta and advanced practice nursing education from Walden University.
Away from work, she enjoys the outdoors, travel and new experiences.
