A physician since 2006, Ibrahim Shahoub, MD, treats patients ages 18 and up at Saint Joseph Medical Group – Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. His areas of interest include lung disease and lung cancer, as well as managing critically ill patients. Dr. Shahoub also has research interests in sepsis, lung cancer and acute respiratory distress syndrome. He is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. He also holds certifications in basic life support, advanced cardiovascular life support and advanced trauma life support.
Dr. Shahoub was inspired to become a doctor by a desire to help people in need and to see them improve. He chose his specialty because of his interest in treating critically ill patients and to be at their bedside to help them. He says his approach to patient care is comprehensive, and that he expresses humankindness in his practice by listening to patients’ concerns and showing empathy for what they are going through.
Dr. Shahoub completed a medical degree at the University of Tripoli School of Medicine in Tripoli, Libya. After being certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, he served an internal medicine residency and a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Marshall University in West Virginia. He also did a fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Kentucky.
His interests outside of medicine include sports.
