Dr. Jan Sunde is an oncologist specializing in gynecologic oncology. He is an Associate Professor of Gynecologic Oncology and the Division Director and Medical Director of Gynecologic Oncology at the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Sunde’s clinical and research interests include: clinical trials; minimally invasive surgery for gynecologic cancers; sentinel lymph node mapping for gynecologic cancers; treatment of uterine, cervical, ovarian, vulvar and vaginal cancers and preinvasive diseases; screening and risk-reduction of women at high risk of gynecologic cancers; surgical and medical education; complex gynecologic surgery; treatment of uterine sarcoma and gestational trophoblastic neoplasia; and basic science research investigating the origin of ovarian cancer.
Dr. Sunde received a B.S. from the University of Washington - Seattle and his medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. He completed his residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso. He completed clinical fellowships in gynecologic oncology at The Norwegian Radium Hospital in Oslo, Norway and at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Sunde is board-certified in Gynecologic Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Sunde is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the International Gynecologic Cancer Society. In addition to English, Dr. Sunde speaks Norwegian and Spanish.
