Dr. Grochmal is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Complex Spine and Peripheral Nerve Neurosurgeon. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He specializes in surgery for a wide range of conditions, including complex spine trauma, degenerative spine disease, spinal deformity, and adult brachial plexus and peripheral nerve issues. He completed the Sanford Larson Fellowship in Complex Spine surgery in 2018, after extensive neurosurgical training in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Dr. Grochmal’s clinical practice emphasizes complex spine surgery, with a strong focus on utilizing neuro-navigation for efficiency and utility. He is actively developing a clinical program for "gain of function" nerve transfer surgery for patients with complete cervical spinal cord injury. His philosophy for patient care centers on providing excellence while educating patients about their individual conditions, fostering a patient-centric, tailored, and collaborative decision-making process.
Away from his clinical and academic pursuits, Dr. Grochmal is passionate about fitness and spinning records. He is also a proud father to two amazing kids.
