Dr. Jorge Escobar is an interventional and clinical cardiologist specializing in peripheral and coronary interventions and mechanical circulatory support. He practices Interventional Cardiology at The Texas Heart Institute Center for Cardiovascular Care (UTHSC) in Houston. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Interventional Cardiology at UTHSC.
Dr. Escobar received his medical degree from the Universidad del Norte in Barranquila, Colombia and completed his residency in internal medicine at UTHSC, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at The Texas Heart Institute and Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Escobar is board-certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He also has COCATS Level II certification from the National Board of Echocardiography and the National Board of Nuclear Cardiology, and is certified as a Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support provider by the American Heart Association. Dr. Escobar received Outstanding Fellow of the Year Award from The Texas Heart Institute and Resident of the Year Award from UTHSC. He has also been named a Top Doctor by Houstonia Magazine.
