An advanced practice registered nurse, Lisa Mallard focuses on midwifery and women’s health, treating patients from teens to seniors at Saint Joseph Medical Group – Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has been in nursing since 2000.
Mallard said she employs a humanistic approach to care, for the whole person, “including the underserved and culturally diverse patients.” In demonstrating humankindness, she treats people with respect and focuses on patients as individuals. She became drawn to her field during her employment as an obstetrics nurse and childbirth educator, working in a freestanding birthing center. “The patients were very involved in their care,” she said.
A preceptor of graduate students in midwifery and women’s health, she is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society in Nursing.
Mallard holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida; and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Florida in Gainesville. In her off hours, she cares for her family and loves sailing, paddle boarding and kayaking.
