Matthew Eads, MD

Dr. Matthew Eads is a fellowship-trained Hand Surgeon with extensive expertise in the intricate anatomy and function of the upper extremity. He completed his specialized Hand Surgery fellowship at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, building upon a solid foundation in Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Dr. Eads earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the same institution. He is a valued member of both the American Association for Hand Surgery and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Eads is deeply passionate about treating the patient as a whole, emphasizing a comprehensive, team-centric approach to care. He understands the vital role of collaborating with occupational therapy, physical therapy, and pain management specialists to ensure the best possible outcomes for his patients. For Dr. Eads, the most rewarding aspect of his profession is being able to restore hand function, allowing individuals to return to the activities they enjoy and that are essential to their daily lives.

His clinical focus encompasses a wide range of procedures and conditions affecting the elbow, wrist, and hand. Dr. Eads regularly performs elbow and wrist arthroscopy, upper extremity joint replacements and fusions, endoscopic carpal tunnel release, and fracture fixation. He expertly treats conditions such as arthritis of the elbow, wrist, and fingers, various compression neuropathies, Dupuytren's contracture, tendinopathies, and complex traumatic injuries to the bones, tendons, nerves, and vessels of the upper extremity.
