Melissa S. Lim, MD

Dr. Lim is a board-certified pulmonary and sleep specialist and sees office and hospitalized patients with pulmonary, critical care, and sleep disorders. She is originally from Akron, Ohio and attended the Ohio State University College of Medicine. She completed her residency at Boston City Hospital (now Boston Medical Center)/Boston University, and fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins and the University of California, San Francisco. She started her private practice, Redwood Pulmonary Medical Associates, in 2001, originally and still located within Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, CA.  In 2015, Redwood Pulmonary took over the Sequoia Hospital Sleep Disorders Center, now the Sequoia Sleep Center at Redwood Pulmonary. The sleep center offers both laboratory and home sleep apnea testing and provides full consultative services and ongoing care for patients with sleep disorders. Her practice also oversees an innovative, comprehensive sleep program for residents of San Mateo County who have Health Plan of San Mateo health insurance.In 2012 Dr. Lim created a mobile app for patients with sleep disorders called MobileSleepDoc Pro. After several updates it is now Somnology MobileDoc, available on both iOS and Android platforms. She is the Chief Medical Officer and co-founder of Somnology, Inc., whose goal is to reduce the individual and global burden of sleep disorders using mobile technologies.She and her family reside in San Francisco, California.

Dr. Lim is committed to providing compassionate, thorough care to her patients in a collaborative manner. She enjoys the root of doctoring, which comes from the Latin docere, to teach. Her patients and their families are encouraged to ask questions and learn about their diseases in order to make the best informed decisions for themselves. She herself is a lifelong learner and thoroughly enjoys learning from her patients and colleagues.
