Oviea Akpotaire, MD

Oviea Akpotaire, MD, provides care for general gastrointestinal disease and colorectal cancer prevention. His special medical interests include obesity medicine/endoscopic bariatrics and public health.

Dr. Akpotaire's approach is kind, warm, thoughtful and thorough. He enjoys empowering patients through education and health literacy, which gives them the tools to further participate in their own care. Seeing people regain a sense of control in the midst of illness motivates him to bring his best self to work. This engagement strengthens the patient-physician partnership, and aligns them on the shared and lifelong goal of living well and in good health.

Dr. Akpotaire is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and American Gastroenterological Association. He serves as an associate professor of gastroenterology at Virginia Mason.

Dr. Akpotaire will treat patients at Virginia Mason Seattle Medical Center and St. Anne Hospital in Burien.
