Dr. Peter Garcia is a highly experienced and dedicated psychiatrist serving patients on California's Central Coast. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and completed both his internship and residency in psychiatry at the University of Nevada at Reno School of Medicine, where he distinguished himself by serving as the primary psychiatrist for Spanish-speaking patients, reflecting his deep commitment to providing culturally sensitive and linguistically accessible mental health care. Dr. Garcia is fluent in Spanish, a skill that has been an invaluable asset throughout his career in serving diverse patient populations. Before entering the medical field, he proudly served his country as a Specialist in the Army National Guard, performing as a Piano Player with the 44th Army Band in Albuquerque, New Mexico, demonstrating a unique combination of artistic talent and dedication to service. Over the course of his career, Dr. Garcia has gained broad and diverse psychiatric experience across a variety of clinical settings. He has served as a psychiatrist at the Santa Fe County Detention Center and the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute, and has provided outpatient psychiatric services for Santa Barbara County Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Services in Santa Maria, California. Since 2015, he has been a valued outpatient psychiatrist with Pacific Central Coast Health Centers and Dignity Health, where he continues to provide compassionate, comprehensive psychiatric care to patients throughout the Central Coast community. A member of the American Psychiatric Association since 2003 and the California Psychiatric Association since 2011, Dr. Garcia remains deeply committed to the highest standards of psychiatric care and to improving the mental health and well-being of the diverse communities he serves.
