Peter Sebastian Masny, MD

Dr. Peter Masny is a board-certified neurologist with a neuromuscular focus, practicing at Dignity Health's Fair Oaks Speciality Center in Arroyo Grande. A dual US/Danish citizen, Dr. Masny earned his Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cellular Biology with an emphasis on Neurobiology from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a member of the Berkeley Honor Students' Society. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Copenhagen Medical School in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he was born and raised. Dr. Masny completed his internship and Neurology residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, followed by a Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship at the University of Utah with an emphasis on EMG. Throughout his career, he has taught Neurology residents and electrophysiology technicians, served as an advisor for local hospitals, and held numerous administrative roles. Dr. Masny has devoted considerable time to research, with a strong focus on human genetics and facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy, resulting in several publications and international conference presentations. He has also contributed to research involving histochemical analysis of human brain tissue to evaluate the efficacy of gene therapy for Alzheimer's disease.
