I believe patient-centered care should be the  approach taken, and the patient-physician relationship is sacred. One of the roles of the physician is not just to provide care but to be an advocate and a voice for those who have often been overlooked and under-treated by our mainstream society. It has been one of my goals in practice to make my patients aware that their care matters, and despite the unfortunate realities of healthcare disparity, I will advocate for them when required.
