Dr. Roni Prucz is an award-winning Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and recognized Phoenix Magazine Top Doctor serving the Greater Phoenix area as the founder of Phoenix Plastic Surgery. Dr. Prucz graduated Cum Laude and with Departmental Distinction from Duke University where he earned dual degrees in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering with a minor in political science. The Duke University Biomedical Engineering program was the #1 ranked program in the country during his tenure. While at Duke, Dr. Prucz was the recipient of multiple research awards and was a finalist in a national biomedical engineering design competition. During the same time, he became a Crew Chief for the Duke University Emergency response team, a position in which he first learned how to apply his methodical thinking and personal skills to helping people rather than building devices.Dr. Prucz completed medical school at Johns Hopkins University, which has always ranked as a top 3 medical school since the beginning of the rankings by U.S. News & World Report. The Johns Hopkins Hospital was also ranked as the #1 hospital in the United States from 1991-2011 and remains a top 3 hospital. While at Hopkins, Dr. Prucz was mentored by some of the nation's leading Plastic and Reconstructive surgeons. With the support of his advisors, he earned a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training position at the University of Washington, one of the nation's leading institutions for treating complex trauma, pediatric conditions, nerve injuries, and cancer.During his training, Dr. Prucz served at the region's only Level I trauma center caring for all severely injured adult and pediatric patients from the states of Washington, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Alaska. Through this experience he acquired the skills and knowledge needed to repair almost any injury to the face, hand, or body. He also developed the skills needed for repairing vessels and nerves, performed a wide variety of microsurgical procedures, and participated in brachial plexus reconstructions and upper extremity reattachments. He was also a member of the region's largest breast reconstruction and oncology team. From using free flaps to implants to fat grafting, Dr. Prucz participated in all aspects of breast surgical care and sarcoma reconstruction. Finally, he meticulously cared for children at Seattle Children's Hospital, which has been recognized as a top children's hospital every year since U.S. News & World Report began ranking medical facilities. While Dr. Prucz finds reconstructive surgery to be incredibly fulfilling, he also loves using his knowledge and skills to improve the quality of life of his patients. Thus for the past several years he expanded the skills he acquired while treating trauma and cancer patients to the development of techniques needed to enhance a person's self-image. Although the goals for aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries are not always the same, the surgical skills that allow for the reconstruction of an entire face or breast translate well into those needed for enhancing the face, breast, and body. Throughout his career, Dr. Prucz has been a leader and educator. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, has authored over a dozen nationally published and peer-reviewed articles, written two book chapters, and has presented his work at national meetings. He has also been elected to serve as President or Vice-President of pertinent professional or societal organizations throughout his career concluding most recently with his tenure as the Vice President of the Fellows and Residents at the University of Washington. Dr. Prucz has a natural ability to relate with others, explain his reasoning, and befriend those around him, which has always earned him the trust and respect of his colleagues and patients. He is now looking forward to helping you feel restored.
