Ruba Alafifi, MD, MPH

Dr. Alafifi is a dedicated OB/GYN, committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable care while fostering deep connections with her patients. Growing up in Houston, she pursued her undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin before completing medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas. She then went on to complete her OB/GYN residency training at Albany Medical Center. CommonSpirit Health is proud to have Dr. Alafifi join our ministry, bringing her expertise and compassionate approach to our communities.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Alafifi gained valuable experience working with refugees in Southwest Houston, an experience that deepened her passion for serving vulnerable populations. She focuses on providing comprehensive women’s health services, including well-woman exams, management of abnormal uterine bleeding, care for conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, and fibroids, as well as post-menopausal care, contraception planning, preconception counseling, and infertility support.

Dr. Alafifi's areas of special interest include minimally invasive surgery, gynecologic ultrasound, women’s health policy, and quality improvement. She consistently strives for excellence in her practice, ensuring that patients receive the most advanced and effective treatments available. Her work reflects CommonSpirit's values of compassion and integrity, inspiring trust and demonstrating courage in the face of inequity.

Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Alafifi enjoys interior design, travel, and photography. She cherishes spending quality time with her family, friends, and beloved cat. Her diverse interests and humanitarian spirit further exemplify her dedication to a holistic approach to life and care, aligning perfectly with CommonSpirit's mission to make the healing presence of God known in our world
