Dr. Tyler Spata is a fellowship-trained cardiovascular surgeon at St. Joseph Health Cardiovascular Associates in the Bryan-College Station area. Dr. Spata has extensive training in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, with a special interest in Robotic Thoracic Surgery. He is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to all his patients, reflecting CommonSpirit Health's core values.
Dr. Spata earned his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, after completing his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in Austin. He completed his general surgery residency at The Ohio State University, where he also earned his Master's in Medical Sciences. He then pursued his cardiothoracic fellowship at the University of Minnesota, further honing his expertise in advanced surgical techniques.
Joining the St. Joseph Health Cardiovascular Associates in October 2023, Dr. Spata makes the healing presence of God known in our world by improving the health of the people we serve. His proficiency in Spanish allows him to connect with a wider range of patients, ensuring accessible and inclusive care for all, especially those who are vulnerable.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Spata is inspired by faith to serve the common good. In his free time, he cherishes moments with his family and enjoys following longhorn sports.
