Vaishnav Krishnan, MD, PhD

Dr. Vaishnav Krishnan is a board-certified physician-scientist, adult neurologist, and clinical neurophysiologist at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He holds appointments as an Associate Professor in Neurology, Neuroscience, and Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Baylor, and as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University. Dr. Krishnan specializes in the treatment of epilepsy and related disorders, with a particular focus on patients affected by psychiatric comorbidities such as depression, anxiety, and autism. Dr. Krishnan’s journey in medicine began with his MD-PhD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2010. Following an internship in Internal Medicine, he completed his Adult Neurology residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School in 2014, and further clinical and postdoctoral fellowships specializing in Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy there in 2016. He is a proud member of the Baylor College of Medicine’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and the Peter Kellaway Section of Clinical Neurophysiology. He is deeply committed to both direct patient care and advancing neurological understanding through research. As the Principal Investigator of the Laboratory of Epilepsy and Emotional Behavior, Dr. Krishnan's translational research program combines multimodal behavioral telemetry in mice with wearable technologies in patient volunteers. His work investigates how seizures, seizure risk, and anti-seizure treatments impact spontaneous behavior, aiming to develop new, quantifiable behavioral endpoints for epilepsy spectrum disorders. Beyond his extensive clinical practice and research, Dr. Krishnan is actively involved in medical education, formally participating in didactic teaching for medical, graduate, and undergraduate students, and overseeing courses on Epilepsy and EEG. He is board-certified in Adult Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Epilepsy Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
