Dr. Yesenia Rojas-Khalil is a colorectal surgeon specializing in robotic and minimally invasive surgery, colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), and complex re-operative pelvic and abdominal surgery. She is an Assistant Professor of Surgery- Surgical Oncology - Section of Colorectal Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and Assistant Program Director for GME - SIM. Dr. Rojas-Khalil completed undergraduate studies at the University of St. Thomas in Houston and received her medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. She then completed an eight-year residency in general surgery at the University of Texas-Medical Branch in Galveston, which included a three-year research fellowship in cancer genetics at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital. She also completed fellowships in surgical critical care at Baylor College of Medicine and colorectal surgery at the University of Louisville. Dr. Rojas-Khalil is a contributing author to surgical textbook chapters in Current Surgical Therapy, Scientific American Surgery, and The SCORE Curriculum for resident education. She is also the Spanish video commentator and contributing abstract translator for Diseases of the Colon and Rectum, the official journal for the American Society of Colon and Rectum Surgeons (ASCRS). Dr. Rojas-Khalil is board-certified by the Texas Medical Board and the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, and board-eligible for certification in Colon and Rectal Surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of ASCRS. In addition to English, Dr. Rojas-Khalil speaks Spanish.
