Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center - O'Quinn Tower - Houston, TX

The 12-story O’Quinn Medical Tower at McNair is the home for Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, offering outpatient radiation and endoscopy services, an additional 80-bay infusion room, more than 70 exam rooms, and state-of-the-art imaging and treatment equipment. This facility also offers a comprehensive suite of radiation oncology services, advanced imaging capabilities and a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center offering additional operating rooms and endoscopy suites.

The McNair Café is located in the first-floor lobby of Tower One. The café is open from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. and lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

If looking for other options outside of those hours, you will find a suite of vending machines in the hallways to the right of the café.

You can park in the blue surface lot or the eight-story underground garage, which connects to the tower.. Visitors may drop off patients at the Barbara and Corbin J. Robertson, Jr. entrance before parking. Credit cards are preferred.

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center offers an online patient record request tool, which is easy to use and free. If you prefer to pick up your medical records in person, you must complete a medical authorization form and bring it or mail it to Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.

At all Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center facilities, we are dedicated to ensuring you have an excellent health care experience. As a patient, you can make your care safer by being an active, involved and informed member of your health care team. Talk to your care team if you have questions or concerns. Our hospital team is here to address any concerns you or your family may have.

Your doctor's office will inform you when to schedule your preadmission phone interview. Please call the provided preadmission testing number at least one week before your procedure if you haven't already done so.

During the call, a registered nurse will discuss your health, answer questions and schedule any necessary lab work or EKGs for anesthesia. Please have your current medication list available.

Before your appointment

Preadmission registration is first-come, first-served. To expedite your visit, please complete these steps before arriving:

• Get insurance precertification
• Preregister with the hospital

During your preadmission call, we will also create your hospital account and gather your insurance details. Failure to complete precertification and preregistration beforehand may result in a longer wait.

Many insurance plans require precertification or prior authorization before receiving care. Check your insurance card for instructions. If it says you must call, do so as soon as possible — usually within 24 hours of registration. This helps avoid delays.

If your surgery is at Baylor St. Luke’s O’Quinn Medical Tower (1919 Old Spanish Trail, Houston, TX 77054), head directly to the ambulatory surgery center on the fourth floor.

Please bring:

• Your current insurance card and any required copay
• Any paperwork from your doctor (orders, consent forms, medical history or lab results)
• A list of allergies and medications
• A copy of your advance directive or living will
• Know the name and purpose of your procedure and your general health history

Each patient is unique, and your physician is best suited to understand your specific needs. It's important to follow their instructions carefully. However, the following steps are generally recommended prior to a procedure::

• Do not eat or drink after midnight before your procedure, or as directed by your physician. Avoid swallowing water when brushing your teeth.
• Shower or bathe as usual the night before or morning of your procedure. Use antiseptic soap if instructed, and avoid perfumes, lotions or powders.
• Do not bring valuables, including jewelry, wallets or purses, to the hospital.
• Wear loose-fitting clothes or pajamas. For knee surgery, shorts are recommended.
• Provide your physician with a list of all medications, including herbal supplements and vitamins. Your physician will provide any necessary medications during your stay.
